The latest BUZZ about Sexto…

87 Points - "500 Great Values for $20 and Under"  Wine Spectator, October 2009

Wine of the Week "Wild, dark and spicy, robust, rich and warm. It’s all black fruit all the time, juicy and succulent; The bouquet
conveys a woody-spicy aspect, while in the mouth the black fruit flavors deepen with notes of dried flowers, smoke and tar. Highly
individual and able to stand up to hearty fare like braised veal shanks or short ribs, beef stew or spicy pork chops. Very Good+
Fredric Koeppel, Jan 2009

"A Spanish red like Sexto will please most palates."   The Arizona Republic, June 2008

"A ripe red, with chocolate truffle and raspberry coulis notes on a supple framework.  Tangy acidity leads to a spicy finish.  Garnacha,
Carinena, Tempranillo and  others.  Drink now. 85 Points."
Wine Spectator, June 2008

"Laely Heron's Garnacha-driven six-variety Spanish blend is searing and nervy with ripe plum and blackberry fruit; modern in style
with stunning balance. 91 points ."
Anthony Dias Blue, June 2008

“Trends to Watch: Almost shockingly, there are virtually no Americans who have delved into actual winemaking in Spain; a notable
exception is Laely Heron, who shifted her focus from France to make Sexto – a blend of six grapes – in Terra Alta, not far from
Priorat.”
The Beverage Journal, June 2008

Silver Medal winner in the BTI 2008 World Wine Championships: Sexto earned a top score of 88 points and was selected as "Highly
Recommended" and a Best Buy in the Spanish Reds category.

“The 2005 Sexto is a red blend from the Terra Alta DO in northeastern Spain. Its name means "sixth", as it was the sixth grape – the
relatively obscure Lledoner Pelut Noir – added to the blend of Grenache, Carignan, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah that
winemaker Laely Heron credits with adding an extra layer of complexity that made all the difference."
The Washington Post, March
2008

“The wine was stunning – full-bodied, rich and fruity, and full of spices and black cherry and plum flavors. Gorgeous aroma. Wow! I
was stunned again when I checked the price.”
USA Today, December 2007

"Brilliant light purple hue. Red raspberry, carnation and black spice aromas. This medium-bodied red is grapey with a juicy, soft finish
offering tart acidity. Try with lighter chicken dishes."
   Restaurant Hospitality, October 2007

Silver Medal winner in the BTI 2006 World Wine Championships: Sexto earned a top score of 88 points and was selected as "Highly
Recommended" in the Spanish Reds category.

"There's no denying the enjoyment of a wine that's distinctly fruit-forward and built on a decent acidic structure. Today let's take a look
at a modestly priced Spanish red that qualifies by both criteria. Sexto ("Sixth") is a new offering from the San Francisco-based wine
negoçiant Laely Heron, whose Heron line of wines have become popular restaurant pours."
   Wine Lovers Page, July 2006

"A sure sign of Spain's growing popularity is the growing presence of California winemakers in that country. Among them is Laely
Heron of San Francisco, who has begun a new endeavor called Sexto, 'sixth' in English."
    The Oxford Press, July 2006

“San Francisco-based winemaker Laely Heron, owner of the affordable Heron Wines line, has launched a new project in Spain
dubbed Sexto. Heron's debut bottling of the 2004 Sexto Terra Alta Red Wine scores with its spicy freshness and earthy
elegance.”
The San Francisco Chronicle, July 2006

"This Laely Heron find can compete with the best of Priorat; a tremendous value in Spanish red."      Blue Reviews, Patterson’s
Beverage Journal, July 2006

“The wine has vibrant red fruit, some richness way in the background and a hint of spice in the finish. Lovely and a tremendous value.
